I was originally a French Horn player back
when I was at Heathfield Primary.
After a few months of playing my teacher leftÉ(I donÕt think I was
THAT bad!!). In search of a new instrument to play I moved
onto the trumpet. I started off playing on a pretty old trumpet (a Boosey,
long before Hawkes came on the scene). IÕve upgraded a few times and now play on a custom-built
Large-Bore Benge trumpet. In 1997, I started playing for Prestwick
Academy Big Band playing at many venues; the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr, the main
stage at the Millennium Dome (now The O2) and also Turnberry Hotel to name
but a few. Throughout Secondary School I listened to a lot of Maynard
Ferguson and Arturo Sandoval and their Range and Lead trumpet playing was
what inspired me to play. After secondary school, I went on study at
Strathclyde University on the BA Applied Music Course (2003-2007). Absolutely loved my time there, but
unfortunately my theory failed me and I left the course in 2007. I am now working as an Incident Manager for a
reputable Loss Adjusting firm and I am currently studying for my Insurance
exams. |
